The work depicts a contemplative figure with a skull, rendered in rich tones. The original canvas has been relined onto a later canvas. Stretcher dimensions are 13 1/4 x 14 3/4 inches, framed in a gilt wood frame with outside dimensions of 15 x 16 1/4 inches. A notable example of period artistry.
