A RARE JAPANESE JINGASA STEEL-PLATE HELMET - A rare type, of conical form with a narrow brim, composed of direct-riveted steel plates lacquered black overall, with lugs and chinstrap intact to the interior. Such helmets were typically worn only by samurais commanding musket companies which greatly impacted Japanese warfare in the 17th-19th centuries. 17th -18th century. Wear to lacquer.
