A JAPANESE TANTO DAGGER - Shinshinto era, with rare rankaku eggshell lacquer koshirae, and brass fuchi and kashira and tsuba in stippled and black lacquer motifs. kogatana in place, with black-lacquer and brass kozuka and gilded habaki. Fine blade with two hole tang, of hira zukuri form with billowing temperline and clear turnback with active undulating grain. Late 19th century. Light wear. Overall length 43.8cm/17 1/4 inches, nagasa 27.5cm/ 10 7/8 inches. Condition II
