A CONTINENTAL BOWIE KNIFE - Likely German, with elaborately modeled lionhead pommel and bone grip with twisted wire binding intact, with fluted ferrule and recurved guard terminating in wolves heads. The broad blade with clipped bowie-style tip, deeply etched at the forte on either side with panels of vinework, the upper panel on each side retaining most original gilding. Second half of the 19th century. Minor wear, gilding rubbed. Overall length 33.7cm./ 13 ¼ inches. Condition III
