Moisey Kogan was a renowned classical Russian artist whose works have been offered at Christie’s auctions. He served during World War II from 1941 to 1945 and later graduated from the Surikov Academy of Arts in Moscow in 1953. Kogan is especially celebrated for his rural architectural landscapes, which reflect the spirit of traditional Russian village life. His work was deeply influenced by the poetry of Sergei Yesenin, imbuing his paintings with a lyrical, poetic quality expressed through color and form. Characterized by spontaneity, sincerity, and simplicity, Kogan’s rural motifs are often described as a form of geodesic naïveté.
