Signed and dated lower right: ”Student of Mr. P. Basin K. Gun, June 9, 1859”. Framed. Karl Jacob Wilhelm Huhn, known in Russia as Karl Fyodorovich Gun, was a Baltic-German history, genre and landscape painter. In the 1850s he studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts under Pyotr Basin (1793–1877). Later Huhn became a member of the Peredvizhniki movement.
