19TH CENTURY RUSSIAN SILVER OKLAD TIKHVINSKAY ICON - This 19th-century Russian icon depicts the Tikhvinskaya Mother of God, featuring a finely chased and engraved silver oklad with intricate floral and geometric borders. The oklad is hallmarked at the rim and halo for Moscow with the ”84” zolotnik silver standard and the maker's initials ”SG” for Semen Galkin. Housed in a later green-tinted wooden frame with a velvet-covered back, the piece showcases the traditional Orthodox ”Hodegetria” composition with the Christ Child.
