ANTIQUE 19TH C RUSSIAN ORTHODOX ICON CHRIST PANTOCRATOR - An antique Russian Orthodox hand painted icon of Christ Pantocrator, dating to the second half of the 19th century. Christ is depicted holding the New Testament in His left hand while making a gesture of teaching or blessing with His right, surrounded by saints. Executed in traditional mixed media egg tempera on a gesso and levkas ground on a wooden panel with a gold background, the work is attributed to a Central to Southern Russian school.
