The piece depicts the loading of a labor vessel. Unsigned. Unframed. William Lee Hankey was a British landscape painter and book illustrator. He studied art at the Chester School of Art and at the Royal College of Art. Later in Paris he became influenced by the work of Jules Bastien-Lepage, who also favoured rustic scenes depicted in a realistic but sentimental style.
