1934 MOSCOW THEATRE FESTIVAL INTOURIST POSTER BY N. ZHUKOV - A striking and historically significant original vintage Soviet travel poster promoting the 1934 Moscow Theatre Festival. Designed by celebrated Soviet artist Nikolai Zhukov (1908–1973) for Intourist, the state travel agency, the poster is a brilliant fusion of Constructivist and Art Deco graphic design principles. The dramatic, slightly skewed composition depicts a conductor or pianist from behind, with hands raised toward a clever optical illusion: a piano keyboard that seamlessly transforms into the classical columned facade and quadriga of Moscow's famous Bolshoi Theatre. Printed in a bold, high-contrast palette of red, black, gold, and white, the poster features English text specifically targeting Western tourists. Signed in the plate lower right. Marked ”Printed in USSR (Russia)” along the bottom edge. A highly sought-after masterpiece of 1930s Soviet advertising. nikolai zhukov, soviet travel poster, intourist poster, moscow theatre festival 1934, constructivism, art deco poster, vintage russian poster, bolshoi theatre. Dimensions 40 x 28 1/2 in. All measurements are approximate. Condition Good original vintage condition.
