SCHOOL OF N.V. DIAZ DE LA PENA MYTHOLOGICAL OIL PAINTING - A beautiful 19th-century French oil on wooden panel, painted in the romantic Barbizon manner of Narcisse Virgile Diaz de la Peña (1807–1876). The mythological scene depicts a softly illuminated reclining classical nude/nymph accompanied by a young Cupid and an attendant within a shadowed, wooded landscape. The reverse of the panel bears the authentic oval stamp of ”Hostellet, ” a prominent 19th-century Parisian art supplier, alongside a later handwritten attribution reading ”By Diaz”.
