KEVIN AUZENNE AFRICAN AMERICAN ABSTRACT OIL PAINTING - Kevin Auzenne (American, b. 1971). Oil painting on board. Abstract composition, an expressive combination of warm green tones creating dynamic, 'breathing' shapes which resemble natural structures or human body. Signed and dated September 2001 on the backside. Kevin Auzenne is an African-American artist based in Cincinnati, Ohio. He works at the intersection of narrative figuration and conceptual abstraction. Auzenne’s output is characterized by a commitment to inventiveness and experimentation with formally innovative works exploring language and its affects on human psychology and social injustice. Auzenne recieved the Ohio Arts Council’s Excellence in Painting Award (2023), and has participated in numerous exhibitions in New York, where he lived and worked for over a decade, most recently being featured in an exhibition at the Chautauqua Visual Arts Galleries in western New York.
