MICHAEL LOTENERO AMERICAN FIGURAL OIL PAINTING 1992 - Michael Lotenero (American, b. 1967). Oil painting on canvas. Expressive figurative composition with brush-cut details and texts in the style of Jean-Michel Basquiat. Titled 'Figure with Mallot'. Signed and dated 1992 lower right. Framed. Michael Lotenero graduated from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. During his studies Lotenero became immersed in the post-punk scene, a period that would come to influence much of his later work. Upon graduation, he started the boutique design firm, 96 Eyes Design. Influenced by early Dadaist, Marcel Duchamp and The Situationist's International Guy Debord, Michael Lotenero spent several years, starting in 1992, producing art under the assumed identity ”Monsignor Impala”.
