MARGARITA GIBBONS AMERICAN ABSTRACT OIL PAINTING - Margarita Gibbons (American, 1906–1976). Oil painting on canvas. Abstract geometrical composition in blue, red, and black colors. Titled 'Dual Principle'. Signed lower right. Undated. Margarita Gibbons originally performed as a ballerina for the Metropolitan Opera House before pursing a career as a fine artist in NYC. She studied at the Art Students League, Pratt institute and later in Paris and Amsterdam. Gibbons first husband was Ecuadorian painter Camilo Egas, whom she brought to the United States.
