MINO ARGENTO ITALIAN ABSTRACT ACRYLIC PAINTING 1979 - Mino Argento (Italian, born 1927). Acrylic painting on canvas. Large format. Abstract geometrical composition of a square grid in pastel purple color palette. Titled 'Angels of Permanence'. Signed and dated New York, 1979 on the backside. Framed. Betty Parson's Gallery label is preserved on the backside. Mino Argento studied architecture and began his artistic career in 1960s Rome. Upon moving to New York in 1969, he frequently exhibited his work and was represented by several galleries, including Betty Parson's. Argento was interested in the interplay of positive-negative space. He enjoyed contrasting the hardness and the aridity of penciled lines with sensuous layers of oil.
