19TH C. PERSIAN QAJAR LACQUER PANEL OF A ROYAL COURT - A large and finely detailed 19th-century Persian Qajar dynasty painted lacquer panel (likely papier-mâché). The central scene depicts a Royal Darbar (court gathering) featuring a Shah, possibly Fath-Ali Shah, seated on a throne and surrounded by numerous viziers and attendants in traditional Qajar dress. The background reveals a mosque and palace complex. The primary scene is framed by an intricate shikar-gah (hunting) border showing wildlife in a mountainous landscape, further enclosed by an outer border of Persian calligraphy. Housed in a later 20th-century frame with linen matting. Not examined out of frame.
