19TH C RUSSIAN SILVER ICON KAZANSKAY MOTHER OF GOD - An antique Russian Orthodox icon depicting the revered Kazanskaya Mother of God and the Christ Child, enclosed within a highly detailed silver riza or oklad. The metallic cover is heavily ornamented with dimensional repoussé draping, deeply chased floral motifs on the halos, and engine-turned backgrounds, stamped with the 84 zolotnik standard mark and maker cyphers.
