LATE 19TH C. ITALIAN GRAND TOUR MICROMOSAIC MIRROR - A charming late 19th-century Italian Grand Tour octagonal wall mirror, featuring a continuous border of vibrant micromosaic floral panels. The glass smalti tesserae are meticulously arranged into polychrome clusters of roses, daisies, and forget-me-nots set against a contrasting black ground. The mosaic panels are housed within a molded and gilded wood frame surrounding a central beveled mirror plate. Dimensions Frame 23 x 19 in, Mirror 16 1/2 x 12 1/2 in. Condition Good Antique Condition. The giltwood frame shows expected age-related cracking at the mitered joints and minor rubbing to the gold finish. The micromosaic panels are largely intact, though close inspection reveals a few scattered losses to the glass tesserae and putty, commensurate with age. Original beveled mirror plate is clear.
