19TH C. MEISSEN PORCELAIN SLEEPING GIRL AFTER ACIER - A fine 19th-century Meissen porcelain figural group modeled after the 1774 original by Michel Victor Acier. The scene depicts a young woman in 18th-century dress, fallen asleep in an openwork chair beside a marble-topped table. She wears an intricate ”porcelain lace” shawl and has a love letter tucked into her bodice. The figure is masterfully hand-painted with delicate floral sprays and rests on a molded ”stone” floor base. The porcelain lace on the shawl and headpiece appears remarkably well-preserved with only minor, nearly invisible losses. The hand-painted floral patterns (Sébastien-motif) and gilding remain bright and crisp. No visible repairs or chips to the extremities.
