RUSSIAN SILVER ENAMEL 3-PIECE SUGAR & CREAMER SET - A stunning three-piece Russian 84 standard silver-gilt and polychrome cloisonné enamel tea service, comprising a swing-handled sugar basket, a cream jug, and matching sugar tongs. The suite is beautifully decorated in the Russian Art Nouveau (Style Moderne) taste. The bodies feature sweeping, organic green foliage and pink-and-white blossoms set against a stippled gilt ground, all elegantly framed by vibrant turquoise beaded borders. The pieces are fully hallmarked with the Cyrillic maker's mark ”НС” (N.S.) alongside the 84 zolotnik left-facing kokoshnik mark. imperial russian silver, cloisonne enamel, antique tea set, moscow silver, art nouveau enamel, 1899 1908, nikolay sokolov Dimensions Bowl diameter 5 1/4 in., tongs length 5 in, creamer height 2 1/2 in. The cloisonné enamel is exceptionally well-preserved, retaining brilliant translucency and color with no obvious losses, chips, or restorations. The hinges on the swing handle and tongs are sound. The set retains a very rich, bright gold wash (vermeil) throughout.
