RUSSIAN IMPERIAL SILVER ENAMEL CIGARETTE CASE - A magnificent antique Imperial Russian 84 standard silver-gilt and polychrome cloisonné enamel cigarette case by the renowned Moscow master Nikolai Alekseev. Dating to the late Imperial period (1908–1917), the rectangular case with rounded corners is entirely enveloped in masterful, intricate enamel work. The design features geometric diagonal bands and scrolling foliate motifs rendered in vibrant shades of opaque white, turquoise, yellow, and deep cobalt blue, all separated by fine, twisted silver wirework. The case opens via a cabochon sapphire (or lapis) push-button clasp to reveal a brightly gilded interior. The inner lip is crisply hallmarked with the Cyrillic maker's mark ”НА” (N.A. for Nikolai Alekseev) alongside the 1908-1917 Moscow assay mark featuring the Greek letter Delta, a right-facing kokoshnik profile, and the 84 zolotnik purity mark. nikolai alekseev, imperial russian silver, cloisonne enamel, antique cigarette case, moscow silver, 1908, 84 zolotnik. The complex cloisonné enamel is beautifully preserved, retaining vibrant color with no major chips, cracks, or visible restorations. The hinge is sound, and the case snaps shut securely. The cabochon push-button is intact. The interior retains a rich and bright gold wash (vermeil).
