ANTIQUE RUSSIAN SILVER NIELLO MOSCOW KREMLIN CIGAR BOX - A fine antique Russian 84-standard silver and niello cigar or tobacco box by Moscow silversmith Nikolai Gavrilov (Master NG), crafted circa 1899-1908. The hinged box is richly decorated on all sides with intricately engraved and niello-enameled views of the Moscow Kremlin, including the Spasskaya and Ivan the Great Bell towers, framed by scrolling foliate motifs against a stippled ground. The interior features a bright gold wash (vermeil). Marks: Stamped on the inner rim with the 1899-1908 left-facing Kokoshnik mark for 84 zolotnik silver, alongside the Cyrillic maker's mark ”НГ” (NG). russian silver box, 84 zolotnik silver, master ng, nikolai gavrilov, niello enamel, moscow kremlin. The niello enamel decoration is highly intact with no major losses. The gold-washed interior is bright, showing minor age-appropriate spotting.
