M.C. ESCHER ORIGINAL WOODCUT INITIAL D WITH COA & CATALOGUE - An original 1932 woodcut by Maurits Cornelis Escher (Dutch, 1898-1972) titled ”Initial D” (Bool 192). The print was created to illustrate the book ”De Vreeselijke Avonturen van Scholastica” by Jan Walch. The piece bears Escher's ”MCE” monogram in the block. The lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from noted Escher expert Rock J. Walker of Walker Fine Art, as well as a signed presentation book ”Suites and Small Prints.” Marks: Monogrammed ”MCE” in the block. m.c. escher woodcut, original escher print, scholastica illustration, walker fine art coa, modern graphic art. The modern black frame is in very good condition.
