VADIM RYNDIN RUSSIAN AVANT-GARDE CIRCUS PAINTING, 1936 - An original mixed media theatrical or circus design by prominent Russian artist Vadim Ryndin, executed in 1936. The vibrant composition depicts two stylized clown figures performing a balancing and juggling act against a striking cobalt blue arched backdrop, showcasing the bold geometry and playful dynamism typical of the Soviet avant-garde movement. The lower right corner is initialed and dated W.R. 36, while the reverse features extensive handwritten Cyrillic notations, preliminary pencil sketches, and the artist's name. The reverse supports the work’s authentic theatrical and studio origin. Ryndin later became one of the leading Soviet scenographers and Chief Designer of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. His works are held in major collections including the State Tretyakov Gallery and Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum. The piece is securely mounted under glass within a complementary blue mat and a gilt wood frame.
