PAVEL TCHELITCHEW SEPIA SKETCH PAINTING OF BATHERS - A rapid, dynamic sepia ink and wash sketch by Russian-American Neo-Romantic master Pavel Tchelitchew (1898–1957). The composition depicts three male bathers—two standing and one seated—rendered with aggressive, expressive cross-hatching, with a stylized sailboat in the background. Marks: Signed ”P. Tchelitchew” in ink to the lower right reverse margin. The reverse bears a later numerical label 1257. Provenance: Acquired directly from the estate of the artist's sister in France. There is widespread, dark liquid staining across the entire sheet, both within and outside the image area. Several small tears/holes are visible within the composition.
