PAVEL TCHELITCHEW INK STUDY PAINTING OF THEATRICAL FIGURES - A highly expressive sepia ink and heavy wash drawing by Russian-American Neo-Romantic master Pavel Tchelitchew (1898–1957). The working sheet features a study of three figures, likely theatrical costume or set designs. The lower section depicts two seated figures in conical hats and heavy cloaks. Above them towers a large, imposing, heavily draped figure rendered in rapid, aggressive wash. Marks: Signed ”P. Tchelitchew” in ink on the lower right of the reverse. There are scattered ink splatters inherent to the working process, and mild overall toning to the paper.
