Executed in 1968, the work beautifully demonstrates Ohashi's synthesis of American Abstract Expressionism and traditional Japanese aesthetics. The artist layers torn, fibrous washi paper, brilliant squares of gold leaf, and dark blue elements over a muted, grid-like background punctuated by spontaneous paint splatters.
