VALERIJUS DOMBROVSKIS MASQUERADE OIL PAINTING, 1990 - An atmospheric, expressionist oil on canvas on board by Lithuanian artist Valerijus Dombrovskis. Titled ”Masquerade” (1990), the composition features a group of spectral, loosely rendered figures emerging from a muted grey and brown background, highlighted by a single figure wearing a vibrant red mask/scarf. Dombrovskis utilizes a haunting, dreamlike application of paint that is characteristic of late 20th-century Baltic expressionism. Marks: Signed and dated ”V. Dombrovsky 90” in the lower right. The verso is additionally signed, titled ”Маскарад” (Masquerade), dimensioned, and inscribed with the medium in Cyrillic.
