ANTIQUE SPANISH COLONIAL REPOUSSÉ SILVER & CUZCO SCHOOL ICON - A magnificent 18th/19th-century Spanish Colonial religious icon, likely of Peruvian or Bolivian origin. The central oil painting is executed in the traditional Andean Cuzco School style, depicting the Virgin of the Rosary and Christ Child in elaborate, bell-shaped robes adorned with gold brocateado, flanked by angels holding roses. The painting is housed within a massive, scalloped repoussé and chased silver (untested/unmarked) surround. The elaborate metalwork features rich religious and architectural motifs, including the Sacred Heart, flanking saints in niches, winged cherubs, and scrolling foliate vines.
