TWO ANTIQUE MEISSEN PORCELAIN SPANIEL DOG FIGURINES - A superb pair of late 19th/early 20th-century Meissen porcelain dog figurines, modeled as seated Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. The models (C26) were originally designed in the mid-18th century by the legendary master modeler Johann Joachim Kändler. The dogs are highly detailed, featuring heavily textured, flowing coats hand-painted with varying shades of brown and black. The faces are exceptionally expressive with finely articulated eyes and snouts. Dimensions Height average 6 in. Condition The dog with the lighter brown markings appears to be in very good condition with no visible cracks or repairs. The dog with the darker markings has sustained a break to its front and back left legs and one ear, which has an old, highly visible yellowed glue repair. Both exhibit typical, very minor shelf wear to the bases.
