RUSSIAN 84 SILVER PODSTAKANNIK GLASS HOLDER - A massive and historically intriguing antique Russian 84-standard silver tea glass holder (podstakannik). Produced in the late 19th century, the heavy holder features an architectural handle and is boldly engraved with the name ”VASILY” in stylized Old Slavonic script. The side bears a later presentation inscription dated July 12, 1920, surrounded by engraved laurel branches. Complete with a heavy, deeply cut geometric crystal glass insert. Marks: Stamped near the upper rim with the 84 zolotnik silver standard mark, a rubbed assayer's mark, and Cyrillic maker's initials ”AA” (possibly Andrey Aleksandrov or Aleksey Afanasyev). russian silver, 84 zolotnik, podstakannik, antique russian tea glass, imperial russian silver.
