ANTIQUE 19TH C RUSSIAN SILVER BOX W CATHERINE II MEDAL - An antique Russian silver trinket or pill box of round shape. Dated first half of the 19th century. The lid is adorned with a very rare Catherine the Great medal, 1774, engraved by S. Yudin and G. C. Waechter, commemorating the July 10, 1774, peace treaty with Turkey. It features the bust of Empress Catherine II on the obverse and an image of Pallas Athena on the reverse, flanked by warships and war trophies. A gilt wash interior. The exterior edges are engraved with various initials and dates, starting from 1843 to 1934 . Hallmarked on the underside with unclear marking. Weight: 174 g.
