GORHAM ATHENIA ART NOUVEAU COPPER AND SILVER VASE - A fine Art Nouveau vase by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. Dated ca. 1900s. Athenia model. Copper body molded in a curvaceous form, quatrefoil base, silver rim and mounts with pierced decoration, extended curved side handles reaching up towards the center of the vase. The verso is marked ‘Gorham Co. AY222’ along with two other marks, an Anchor and an Hourglass. The Gorham Manufacturing Company was one of the largest American manufacturers of sterling and silverplate and a foundry for bronze sculpture, established in 1831.
