19TH C GERMAN STILL LIFE OIL SIGNED M.O. BÜRGER PAINTING - A large-scale 19th-century German School oil on canvas banquet still life painting, rendered in the rich academic realist style. The elaborate tabletop composition features shucked oysters with lemon wedges, a champagne bottle bearing a ”MÜLLER” label, a bronze figural tazza supporting a glass fruit bowl, a blue and white ceramic vase overflowing with roses and lilacs, and an abundance of grapes, peaches, and citrus resting on a draped red velvet cloth. Signed and dated ”M.O. Bürger D/b. 89.” in red paint in the lower left corner. The canvas has been lined for structural support and stability. Fine, stable age craquelure is present throughout the composition. Visual inspection reveals light age-appropriate surface wear with scattered minor old restoration touch-ups visible under varnish. The ornate gilt wood frame displays light edge rubbing and minor finish wear consistent with age.
