ANTIQUE 19TH C RUSSIAN ICON RESURRECTION AND GREAT FEASTS - A 19th-century Russian Orthodox devotional icon depicting the Resurrection of Christ (Descent into Hades) flanked by the Twelve Great Feasts, painted in tempera and gold leaf on a recessed wood panel (kovcheg). The central double scene represents the Resurrection above and Christ raising Adam and Eve below, encased within twelve individual rectangular compartments showing major liturgical feast days. Bordering the composition are Church Slavonic calligraphic inscriptions detailing the sacred narratives, accompanied by small corner vignettes of the Four Evangelists. The painted surface displays light craquelure, minor surface scuffs, darkening of the protective varnish layer, and small scattered paint touch-ups. The wood panel exhibits a slight natural bow. The reverse shows open channels from two missing wooden splints, along with installed wire hanging hardware and corner felt pads.
