Bidspirit auction | RUSSIAN 56 GOLD BLUE GUILLOCHE
RUSSIAN 56 GOLD BLUE GUILLOCHE ENAMEL AND DIAMOND BROOCH - An elongated navette-form gold and enamel brooch, styled in the traditional Imperial Russian taste. The face is decorated with a vibrant translucent sky-blue enamel applied over a finely engine-turned (guilloché) wavy sunburst ground, all framed by an applied twisted-rope gold border. A single collet-set faceted clear stone (untested for gemological identity) accents the center. The gold reverse is fitted with a simple pin and C-clasp mechanism. The back is explicitly stamped with the Russian '56' zolotnik gold standard within a shovel-shaped cartouche containing a right-facing Kokoshnik (indicating a 1908-1917 date range), alongside a circular assay mark and a Cyrillic maker's mark. Notably, the reverse features an unrefined, ragged piercing behind the central stone setting. Russian enamel, Romanov style, zolotnik, 14k gold pin, antique jewelry, guilloche brooch, blue enamel, Imperial Russia marks. Dimensions Length: 1 1/2 in (40 mm). Weight: 7.6 g. Condition Good visual condition on the obverse. The blue guilloché enamel is intact with no visible chips, but has a small scratch closer to the edge. The central stone is secure. The gold reverse exhibits significant scratches, heavy tarnish, and a notably crude, jagged piercing behind the stone setting. The pin and C-clasp mechanism functions normally.
