Bidspirit auction | PAIR OF GIULIANO BULLO MURANO
PAIR OF GIULIANO BULLO MURANO ZANFIRICO & GOLD LEAF DANCERS - A fine pair of Italian Murano art glass figurative sculptures by master glassmaker Giuliano Bullo, dating to the mid-to-late 20th century. The set captures an elegant 18th-century Venetian gentleman and lady in dynamic dancing postures, inspired by traditional Commedia dell'arte characters. Both figures are meticulously handcrafted from clear glass heavily infused with brilliant gold foil (foglia d'oro) inclusions, highlighting their faces, tricorn hats, and ruffled attire. Their elaborate period costumes are complex filigrana creations, utilizing the white zanfirico technique where multiple glass threads are woven into dense lattice patterns to simulate fine lace. The figures are mounted to integral, circular ribbed spun-glass bases suffused with matching gold inclusions. The polished underside of each base is hand-engraved with the script signature, ”Giuliano Bullo”. Bullo is celebrated for his dedication to preserving the intricate lampwork and traditional forms of classic Venetian glassmaking.
