The Ackland Art Museum is an art museum and a division of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was founded through the bequest of American lawyer William Hayes Ackland (1855-1940), who donated his collection of paintings to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  The museum's holdings contain some 17,000 works of art. Works from Asia are most widely represented, as well as works of art on paper (i.e., prints, photographs, and drawings). The collection also includes important twentieth-century European works, as well as works of African art and North Carolina ceramics. Among the artworks here are paintings by Eugène Delacroix, Albrecht Dürer, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Käthe Kohlwitz, Pablo Picasso, and Max Weber. English Edition. Rare to find.
