Christie's in London in 2014 presented in a special exhibition-sale 65 works by two German artists - Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Polke (Sigmar Polke). The last time Richter and Polke exhibited their works in the same show was in 1966 in Hanover. Polke died in the summer of 2010 from cancer.  ‘Richter and Polke form the dynamic duo of German fine art of the last 50 years, ’ said Francis Autred, head of European post-war art at Christie's, in an interview with dpa. The two were friends in the early 1960s, but then their paths diverged. ‘Despite this, their work and their ideas intersect in an interesting way, ’ Outred further pointed out. The exhibition brought together works by both artists from over 30 collections. In addition to paintings, the exhibition also included photographs that depicted the artists during their friendship.
