Created and preserved within the artist’s personal archive. A refined and expressive work by Nikolai Ivanovich Golikov, one of the leading masters of the Palekh school, Honoured Artist of the RSFSR, and a representative of a distinguished artistic dynasty, son of Ivan Ivanovich Golikov. The piece belongs to the artist’s mature period and reflects the lyrical tradition of Palekh painting. The composition depicts a farewell scene between a warrior and his beloved, set within a stylised decorative environment. On a black lacquer ground, the figures are rendered in traditional costume: the warrior in ornamented armour leans towards the female figure.
