A refined work by Nikolai Ivanovich Golikov, one of the leading masters of the Palekh school, Honoured Artist of the RSFSR, and a representative of a distinguished artistic dynasty, son of Ivan Ivanovich Golikov. The piece belongs to the artist’s mature period and reflects a traditional folkloric subject. The composition depicts a round dance, structured through rhythmic movement and the interaction of figures. Set against a black lacquer ground, a group of women in traditional costume moves in a circular formation around a stylised tree. The composition is characterised by flowing lines and a carefully balanced rhythm. Floral motifs and costume details are executed using raised gold and the traditional multi-layered tempera technique. A decorative border frames the composition, reinforcing its visual coherence.
