A work by Nikolai Ivanovich Golikov, one of the leading masters of the Palekh school, People’s Artist of the RSFSR, and son of Ivan Ivanovich Golikov. Dated 1980, the composition represents a rare example of a literary portrait within the Palekh tradition, dedicated to Nikolai Rubtsov. Nikolay Rubtsov (1936-1971) was a prominent Russian poet whose work is celebrated for its deep connection to the Russian countryside, themes of nature, and a melancholic, lyrical tone.
