Unique Presentation Box “Troika” - A Historic Gift from the Fedoskino Artists to Nikolai Ivanovich Golikov - Fedoskino, USSR, January 24, 1975. Papier-mâché, oil painting, lacquer, gold. 16 by 7 cm Condition report: Minor signs of wear. Provenance: From the family collection of the Golikov dynasty. Presented to Nikolai Ivanovich Golikov by the collective of Fedoskino artists on the occasion of his 50th birthday (January 24, 1975). A gold dedication inscription on a cinnabar ground is preserved inside the lid. A rare commemorative object representing the artistic dialogue between two major centres of Russian lacquer art. Executed in the tradition of Fedoskino, the box features the iconic winter troika - a signature subject of the Fedoskino school. The painting demonstrates the characteristic qualities of oil lacquer technique: tonal depth, soft modeling, and atmospheric perspective. Horses of different colors are depicted in swift motion across a snowy landscape. Unlike the linear stylization of Palekh, this work emphasizes volume, light, and naturalistic movement. The exterior is finished with a refined gold ornamental band. Collecting & Investment Potential: Objects with direct commemorative provenance of this level are exceptionally rare. A presentation piece from one artistic center to a leading master of another represents a unique historical document of artistic recognition. Such works rarely appear on the market and are of strong museum-level interest. A unique commemorative object linking two major lacquer traditions. Opportunities of this nature are exceptionally rare and typically remain in institutional or private collections.
