Provenance An exceptionally rare publishing original from the memorial archive of Nikolai Ivanovich Golikov. The work originates directly from the Golikov family collection and represents an authentic artist’s design prepared for Soviet art postcard production in 1970. Its historical and documentary importance is reinforced by the survival of publisher’s stamps, editorial annotations, technical layout markings, a fragment from Pushkin’s Ruslan and Lyudmila on the reverse. Such publishing originals rarely survived, as they were used directly during the printing preparation process. An exquisite example of Palekh graphic art and Soviet publishing culture of the 1970s. Created after Pushkin’s Ruslan and Lyudmila, the composition presents one of the most lyrical scenes within the artist’s fairy-tale cycle.
