The sculpture "Agatha" is named after his daughter, whose birth was the impetus for a return to sculpture, from which Grigory had once withdrawn after his father's death. "When my daughter Agatha was born, the thought struck me that I had an obligation to express my love for her in such a way that it would remain forever. I saw my daughter's nebulashka on the veranda - and so a giant steel toy was born: a sculpture completely unlike anything I had learned."

The steel version of Agatha, created in 2017, took part twice in the international contemporary art fair Cosmoscow and has been added to the collection of the Russian Museum, It was exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London and in Red Square in Moscow. From 15 December 2019, this Agata has been standing in Stoleshnikov Pereulok in. In 2018, Orekhov presented the sculpture in miniature and in different colours. Now every art connoisseur can become the owner of a replica of the artist's art object.

About the Artist:
Gregory Orekhov was born in Moscow into the family of an outstanding russian sculptor and academician, Yuri Orekhov. From an early age, Orekhov studied in his father’s workshop, mastering various sculpture techniques and materials. He later continued his studies at the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.

At the age of 25, after the untimely death of his father, Orekhov began to engage with administrative work at the Russian Academy of Arts, heading the “Sculptor” Foundation, created by his late father. In 2004, Orekhov founded the “The Creative Heritage of Academician Yuri Orekhov” museum, where he showcased a collection of the artist's works, tools and photographs from the archives.

In 2012, Orekhov returned to art full-time and began working in the direction of post-minimalism. He is true to his language: pure form + a metaphorical image. One of his central works entitled “Agatha” is named after his daughter, whose birth served as an impetus for the creation of this work and his artistic and life path in general.

In 2020, Orekhov created the first large-scale modern sculpture in Russia created in memory of Kazimir Malevich in the park of the same name. He participated in solo and group exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Orekhov’s works can be found in the collections of the Russian museum and MAMM, as well as in private collections.
