PAUL CEZANNE (1839-1906), HOUSE IN A GARDEN, OIL ON CANVAS - PAUL CEZANNE (1839-1906), HOUSE IN A GARDEN, OIL ON CANVAS Dimensions: Image size: 24.3 x 33.3 cm. All measured values are approximate. Outer frame size: 34.5 x 43.7 cm. All measured values are approximate. Signature: Paul Cezanne Description: A sunlit landscape depicting a large ochre-colored house surrounded by dense trees and garden vegetation. The building rises across the center of the composition, its warm yellow and orange walls and red tiled roof contrasting strongly with the surrounding passages of deep green foliage. Tall trees frame the scene on both sides, creating a natural enclosure around the architecture, while an open grassy foreground introduces broad areas of green and yellow that lead the eye toward the house. The composition is constructed through compact, deliberate brushwork and a structured arrangement of color planes, with greens, ochres, blues, and warm earth tones defining the relationship between architecture and landscape. The simplified forms, compressed spatial depth, and emphasis on underlying geometric structure reflect the pictorial approach closely associated with Cezanne's landscape painting. The lower right bears the signature ”P. Cezanne.” The reverse shows an aged canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher with paper labels attached. The work is presented in a substantial wooden frame with carved ornamental detailing.
