Anti-Semitism in French Literature : Edouard Drumont and his Sources! Edouard Drumont - 1844-1917. He was a French journalist, pamphleteer, and writer who became famous as an ideologist and propagandist of anti-Semitism during the French Third Republic. He founded the Anti-Semitic League of France and published the newspaper ”La Libre Parole” [The Free Word], that specialized in xenophobic ideology, and whose slogan was: ”France for the French”! Drumont became popular at the time with his inflammatory messages against Jews and capitalism, and with his militant speech that excited the masses. He was proud becoming a kind of ”Pope of Anti-Semitism”. His views also had echoes beyond the borders of France, and several decades later they influenced the policies of the Vichy regime and the collaborators with the Nazis in France during World War II. Good Condition.
