Akron Foundry Anvil Advertising Paperweight - Likely a United States 200th Anniversary piece, dated 1776 - 1976. Other online sellers attribute this to Akron, Ohio; however, the company's location is not cast into the anvil. There are Akron communities in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and New York. While there is a company - Akron Foundry Company, also known as AFC - in Akron, Ohio that was founded in 1950, we do not believe it created this anvil. Its business is mold and sand casting of aluminum products. We doubt they would have issued a cast iron commenorative piece. We were able to locate an obscure reference to an Akron Foundry ( Akron New York ) that in 1879 was manufacturing agricultural implements, stoves and castings of all kinds - and, unfortunately nothing else.
