Their provenance gives them special historical value, linking them both to Swiss watchmaking and to an important chapter in Swiss sporting history. Charles Antenen Charles Antenen (1929–2000), nicknamed “Kiki,” was a Swiss international footballer best known for his loyalty to FC La Chaux-de-Fonds and his strong performances for the Swiss national team. A versatile forward, he represented Switzerland at three FIFA World Cups: 1950, 1954, and 1962. He earned 57 caps and scored 22 goals for Switzerland. Club and international career Antenen spent almost his entire club career at FC La Chaux-de-Fonds, apart from a brief spell with Lausanne-Sport. He helped his hometown club win several Swiss league titles and domestic cups in the 1950s, scoring around 251 goals in 472 official matches. Internationally, he became a key attacking player for Switzerland. He notably scored against Mexico at the 1950 World Cup. His pace, technique, and consistency made him one of the standout Swiss players of his era. Legacy Antenen is remembered as a symbol of loyalty, skill, and longevity in Swiss football. He remains an emblematic figure in French-speaking Switzerland and one of the most effective Swiss forwards of the postwar period. 1954 World Cup in Switzerland The text also places these watches in the context of the 1954 FIFA World Cup, the only World Cup ever hosted by Switzerland. The tournament was held during the era of Jules Rimet, and symbolized the revival of international football after World War II. Switzerland performed well and reached the quarter-finals, eliminating Italy along the way. Their most famous match was the dramatic 7–5 defeat to Austria, after leading 3–0 — still the highest-scoring match in World Cup history.
