Plate decorated with a Havdla - Heinrich Schwed - Munich, 1924 - A small plated plate for Havdalah, decorated with verses and the Shields of David, made by Heinrich Schwed. Munich, [ca. 1924]. On the edge of the center of the plate is engraved a circular inscription - ”Rishon LeZion, here we are, and to Jerusalem we will proclaim the good news, Amen.” In the middle of the traditional German greetings, the plate is signed in the center ”(HS” (Heinrich Schwed, Heinrich Schwed (1880-1962), born in Reichmannsdorf, Germany. In 1924, he established a ”handicraft” trading house in Munich and a workshop for the production of such objects. Schwed continued to create decorated plates, advertising signs and other objects until 1937, when the business was confiscated by the Nazi authorities and he himself left Germany with his family and found refuge in Argentina.
